More asbestos removal information ...

TYR Demolition are fully licensed and can safely remove asbestos containing material (ACM) specialising in the removal of non-friable asbestos containing material from residential homes and work places all over the central coast. Not only can we safely remove your asbestos material but we are also licensed demolishers that can demolish the entire structure or provide detailed demolition for part of the structure.

If the area of bonded asbestos removed is greater than 10m2, an asbestos clearance certificate is required by law as evidence the area is no longer contaminated. This certificate must be provided by a 3rd party not the licensed contractor, who is responsible for providing written verification that the work carried out was satisfactorily completed & the area is now safe to occupy. However – It is not required by law for work that is less than 10m2 in area but still should be considered to ensure safety. TYR Demolition are happy to provide any asbestos removal advice for you or you can go to the SafeWork NSW website https://www.safework.nsw.gov.au/hazards-a-z/asbestos for further information.

What is Asbestos?

Asbestos is the name used for a group of naturally occurring minerals. These minerals have a resistance to high temperatures and fire. They make effective insulators, so were popular in building products in Australia from the 1940s to 1987. Asbestos-containing construction materials include:

Australia was once one of the highest users of asbestos per capita. Any Products containing asbestos were phased out during the 1980s. A national ban on asbestos, its importation and all products containing asbestos came into effect at the end of 2003.

Asbestos is extremely fibrous, these tiny fibres are easily breathed in which they can become trapped in the lungs. Being exposed to asbestos increases your risk of developing some cancers of the lungovary and larynx. These cancers often develop decades after the exposure to asbestos.

Today, all states and territories in Australia have work health and safety laws that highlight the duty of care for employers and workers’ responsibilities to reduce the risk of exposure to asbestos.
